Mary Katrantzou: Queen of Illusions
I’m really excited and impressed by one young designer. I’m sure that the future of fashion will be depend of her. She has a vision that nobody hasn’t. She is a phenomenon!
I wanna inform u about this awesome designer!
Mary Katrantzou was born in 1986 in Greece. She studied at Rhode Island School of Design before transferring to Central Saint Martins. She inspired by Constructivism and Early 70s references, her prints have created the illusion of wearing giant neckpieces that would be too heavy to wear. Blurring the line between real and printed jewellery.
Her skirts are work of art. Some skirts are like a lamp, some skirts like a paint. Basically her skirts have been made like a ‘panier’. By the way, ‘panier’ - FR word. ‘Panier’ - carcas that gives a volume on the women’s hips that used in 18 century.
